General Officers:

Arts and Sciences – Not present; no report filed. Muirne is still looking for a replacement for Lady Lizzetta.

Chatelaine –

My job assignment in southern California has begun.  During this time, the easiest way to reach me is via e-mail at barondinsdale@yahoo.com. Note that I may not be able to reply immediately, but I'll reply as soon as I can.  If local contact is needed, contact one of the seneschals or Baron Ernst.

The barony will host three demos in July for local libraries.  All three are in support of a nation-wide summer reading program "Dragons, Damsels and Daring Deeds."  Dates & Locations are as follows:

Saturday, July 9, Stafford Springs Library - this demo is being coordinated by Mistress Muirne;

Thursday, July 14, Farmington Public Library - this demo is being coordinated by THL Leo;

Tuesday, July 19, Waterford Public Library - Niels and I are coordinating this one.

I'll be posting more info on these demos next week.  Co-incidentally, while on a business trip in Pittsburgh two weeks ago, I happened to see an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the reading program written by the children's librarian at the Carnegie Library. Regardless of the Arthurian / fairy-tale tone of the theme's name, several of the books included in the reading program deal with cultures other than Western European.  (I'll try to get the article posted as

well, assuming I can find it on-line.)

Additionally, the barony has been invited to process in the 4th of July parade in Groton.  The Town of Groton has given us a site for fighter practices, A&S workshops etc. FREE OF CHARGE for the past 5 years.  The parade is a great, visible, thank-you.  Frodo and Hilary (I can't remember her SCA name) will be organizing our efforts again for the

parade.

Chiurgeon – Not present; no report filed.

Chronicler – Not present; no report filed.

Herald – Not present. Reports that he is still in the process of being warranted.

Web – Not present; no report filed. Muirne notes that she will look into the rules regarding web ministers – do they need to live within the group’s boundaries? If so, we will need a new web minister.

* Exchequer:  Eoin is looking for any receipts of expenses from K&Q Archery – please send them to him ASAP as he has a strict 30 day deadline to get the event report filed.

* Seneschal:  The deadline for comments for the baronial review process is June 15th. The 2nd round of pollings are due to Their Majesties by June 20th.

I am still looking for a replacement for the position of A&S Minister. This is a required position and does not, contrary to popular belief, mean that you must eventually become the seneschal! Paperwork is minimal, and the position can be whatever you choose to do with it. I would like to reiterate that you *do not* need to have any sort of A&S award to hold this positon (I didn’t!). The only requirements are an interest in A&S and the ability to file a brief quarterly report. Please contact me if you have any questions – I would be very happy to discuss the position in more detail.

2005 Yule is to be hosted by Dragon’s Aerie.

Baroness: Pennsic Opening Ceremonies will be on Sunday, August 14th. Her Excellency asks all members of the barony to participate. We will muster at EK Royal. More information to follow.

Demos:

Please see the Chatelaine’s report. Also, Ravenhill will be running a demo at the New Milford Public Library on July 27th, from 7pm to 9pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact James, the seneschal.

Events:  Next local event is Simplefare on November 5, 2005.

Other Business:

Part 3 of the Glove Workshop will be held on Friday, July 29th at the home of Mistress Anarra and Mistress Ana Ilevan. You do not need to have come to Part 1 or 2 in order to participate. All are welcome! They are also looking for people who are willing to teach dyeing, tablet weaving, and shoemaking. Please contact them if you are interested in attending or teaching.
